ANCHURULI
Anchuruli, also spelled Anjuruli, is an emerging tourist destination and a catchment area of Idukki arch dam in Kanchiyar village near Kattappana in the district of Idukki in Kerala state, India. It is highly noted for the 4 km (2.5 mi) long circular tunnel that carries water from Erattayar dam near Kattappana to Idukki reservoir.
PARUMTHUMPARA
Parunthumpara is a small village, located between Peermade and Thekkady. The word 'Parunth' in the local language means Eagle and 'Para' means rock. It is called Parunthumpara or eagle rock because of a large area around like an eagle. This area provides a bird's eye view of an endless stretch of green forest land and low-lying areas.
THEKKADY
The very sound of the word Thekkady conjures up images of elephants, unending chains of hills and spice-scented plantations. In the Periyar forest of Thekkady is one of the finest wildlife reserves in India and spread across the entire district are picturesque plantations and hill towns that hold great opportunities for treks and mountain walks.
ILLIKKAL KALLU
Illikal Kallu is a major tourist attraction spot in Moonnilavu Village,Meenachil taluk, Kottayam district of Kerala (India). Situated about 4000 feet above sea level, it is also one of the highest peak in the Western ghats. Illikal Kallu is a rock situated above Illikal Mala. The thing that makes this rock unique is that half of the rock has fallen off, and only the other half remains.
AYYAPPANCOIL
Ayyapancoil in Kerala is an ancient tribal village and an unexplored tourist spot in South India, the name means Temple of God Ayyappan got from the ancient Ayyappan Temple located near. The spot have history back from 3000s of years and there are number of cultural and historical artifacts existing as proud remains of this pristine village.
ERAVIKULAM NATIONAL PARK
One of the main attractions near Munnar is the Eravikulam National Park. This park is famous for its endangered inhabitant - the Nilgiri Tahr. Spread over an area of 97 sq. km., this park is also home to several species of rare butterflies, animals and birds. A great place for trekking, the park offers a magnificent view of the tea plantations caressed by blankets of mists.
MATTUPETTY
Another prime draw for visitors, located about 13 km from Munnar Town, is Mattupetty. Situated at a height of 1700 m above sea level, Mattupetty is known for its storage masonry dam and the beautiful lake, which offers pleasurable boat rides, enabling one to enjoy the surrounding hills and landscape. Mattupetty's fame is also attributed to the dairy farm run by the Indo-Swiss Livestock Project, where one can encounter different high yielding breeds of cows.
VAGAMON
Vagamon is a hill station. It has a cool climate with the temperature between 10 and 23 °C during a summer midday. It is situated 1,100 metres above sea level. Vagamon was discovered by the British who found the place ideal for tea plantations and they were followed by Christian missionaries who built their abode of service at Kurisumala in Vagamon. National Geographic Traveler has listed Vagamon on their directory of the '50 most attractive places to visit in India.
CALVARY MOUNT
Calvary Mount, also known as Kalvari Mount is an eco-tourism destination on the high reaches of Idukki District in Kerala. Calvary Mount is located about 15 kms away from memories inn homestay. From the top of the Mount, visitors will have an opportunity to experience the panoramic view of mountain ranges and valleys and the beautiful Idukki Reservoir. Here they will be able to enjoy the wildlife of Idukki and can catch a glimpse of wild elephants in the forests.
MUNNAR
Munnar rises as three mountain streams merge - Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. 1,600 m above sea level, this hill station was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India. Sprawling tea plantations, picturesque towns, winding lanes and holiday facilities make this a popular resort town. Among the exotic flora found in the forests and grasslands here is the Neelakurinji. This flower which bathes the hills in blue once in every twelve years, will bloom next in 2018. Munnar also has the highest peak in South India, Anamudi, which towers over 2,695 m. Anamudi is an ideal spot for trekking.
